My Latest Posh Is Up

This time we talk about the animated series of DC characters from TV.

Throwback Thursday - Batman - Dead End

In 2003, Sandy Collora shook the geek world when he unveiled his badass short film Batman: Dead End, and there are a lot of similarities between that version of Batman (played by Clark Bartram) and Affleck’s version of the character. The costume in Batman v Superman has more detail to it, but the concept of it and how the character was portrayed is exactly the same as what Collora and his team created all those years ago.

Other than the different actors playing Batman, Zack Snyder obviously had a lot more money to bring the Dark Knight to life the way he did. But Collora did it first, and I can’t help but think that Snyder had to have been inspired by the way Collora brought Batman to life when trying to develop his own version of the character.

I’ve been a fan of Bartram’s Batman since I first saw him play the Dark Knight in the fan film, and ever since then I’ve been waiting to see that vision of the hero come to life on the big screen. Well, I finally got it, and that’s one of the main reasons why I loved how Batman was portrayed in Batman v Superman.

Batman: Dead End has been out of the limelight for a long time, so I just wanted to remind everyone that this hardcore dark version of Batman already existed before Snyder came around. Snyder just had the opportunity to put him in a feature film.

Of course, I understand that there were several other influences involved with Collora’s vision of the hero, but he was the first one to bring this badass Batman to life in a live-action project. After rewatching Batman: Dead End, there are still some aspects of that version that I like better.

If you need a reminder the awesomeness of Batman: Dead End, check it out below!

Raise Them Up Right

So they fight for the right side when the battle begins.

Justice League Vs Teen Titans

Another great example of  DC animation as the movie begins with a battle between the Legion of Doom and The Justice League. I don't know why DC even attempts to make live action movies. Just stick to their animated stuff because it's what they do best.

Using Trigon as a way to get the two teams to fight and save each other made for some nice conflict but this is not as intense as it could have been. Certainly less adult than past animated features but that is a nice breather before The Killing Joke gets released with an R Rating.

In this story Trigon, DC's version of the Devil want to use his human daughter to escape from the diamond prison she kept him in. Of course we know how this one will end and it's a pretty standard journey from start to finish but I enjoyed it. The little character touches were great.

It's so great to watch Damian learn all about teamwork when he is forced to join the Teen Titans by Batman. Of course all of this comes in handy when the Justice League are co-opted by Trigon, the evil father of Raven. Suddenly the adults are the most dangerous foes of our teen heroes.

I like seeing a more grown up Starfire and Nightwing and the relationship between Raven and Damian was fun to watch develop. There is room here to add more Titans if more such films are made. The Titans Universe is full of great villains and allies. I wish they would make the JUDAS CONTRACT which for some reason I remember seeing animated somewhere. It is THE Teen Titans Story and includes a very dangerous Deathstroke and a plan that destroys the Titans from within and gives us a new hero in Nightwing as Robin (Dick Grayson) was forced to abandon his old identity.

If anything this would be a great pilot to a new Teen Titans series. One in which Cyborg and Nightwing can be a part of the adventures from time to time but where Starfire (of all people) is the adult in the situation. I love Damian in anything because he is always ten moves ahead of everyone else and snotty, bratty Damian is the best Damian of all. I am tempted to buy the film just to get he figure. If you do have an odd one laying around because you like the movies but don't collect figures, hit a brother up and let's deal. This is a fun one for all ages because even the demons aren't really that scary. Worth a watch on Netflix or if you but the film, seriously, hook a brother up with that cool Damian figure so I don't have to steal him from the store myself.

An Open Letter To You All

I think I found something to do for the A-Z Challenge next month. I might just do ONE post a day. Yes, bitches, you have reduced me to a mere stunt. For all that time I will post just once a day. At Noonish daily and that will be all you get. You vampires will have to find a new source for your blood.

I of course can't do this. I would go insane without being able to be prolific. Can you imagine the pressure of choosing just one thing to comment on or to showcase every 24 hours? It's a hell only my enemies should know. I am a DO BEE...not a DON'T BEE.

Yes I could build up posts and then just smash all your brains in come May but even that may turn me mental. Or turn me more mental. I bet my numbers go through the roof the minute I start to post fewer times a day. Now there would be the ultimate irony. I don't need to discover that I need to put out LESS content to be popular. Now that realization WILL make me go mental.

Now is the time when COMMENTS and OPINIONS are appreciated.

I Found This Randomly, I Swear

Why can't I meet some poor girl from some war torn country that needs a place in my garage to chase her cosplay dream? So she wears the Judy Hopps costume around the house and I love it. Is that such a crime? Did I tell you they didn't even have indoor toilets where she was from? Did I tell you that? You people are so judgemental. The costume was low cost and you get everything she needs but some hair and a carrot pen. I think I have a big time crush on animated female cops that are also bunnies. That's not a sick thing is it? But LOOK AT HER. She is a cop AND a bunny. Do I have to draw you a picture?

Variant Classic Neil Adams Covers Redone By Adams Himself

I pulled these two off the Dork Review. Go there to see the entire list of classic covers and their variant homages. Adams had much to do with bring realism to comics in the 70s which allowed creators to tell more interesting, adult stories.

Damn I Am Sick Of Posting And Getting Less Visits And Comment Than Ever

I feel like I am being taken for granted. Not that I do much special but repost piles of images that people can find anywhere else. Nothing special about me. I can barely squeeze 1500 daily visits out of the world. Wouldn't mind some feedback about my Podcasting as well. But maybe that wasn't the reason I started this blog - to connect with like minded travellers and I thank all of those who take the time to befriend me and allow me to remember that like the, I am still alive, somewhere.
