New To The Toy Vault - Captain Action

This one has been long in coming as have been the costume sets that allow Captain Action to become any one of a number of heroes. I just got the first Captain figure today and I am just jazzed by how cool he is. The figure is as large as and old school G.I. Joe and comes with 'kung fu grip' hands and many accessories. The box art was created by superstar artist (and 'Cave of Cool' follower, Joe Jusko) Here is also a sneak peak at the first four costume sets that should be out this year.

This is the original box art for the toy in the 1960s

Aren't they cool? My favorite toy in the 60's, which is why I was so stoked to create the box art for the new CA figure (above) as well as the upcoming Dr. Evil re release. :-)

I wanted you to tell me what I already knew so that I could prove to myself that you were the REAL Joe Jusko. I have the same deep love you have for these characters. I have none of the originals but most all of the Playing Mantis figures from 10 years ago. What kind of swag do you get from such a design job. I am so glad they kept the sandals and medallion for Doctor Evil. I could talk these figures all day long. Would love to see your collection.

Wife just got me the CA and the Captain America Costume. Loving it. Now if they would only do the johnny Quest ones Preying mantis promised, or maybe the Venture bros.

Awesome stuff...gotta get them all...PS...you can buy cheapo Gi Joe knock off figures and put the costumes on them...that is of course if your into that. Because I had to buy 4 Cap figures 10 years ago just to have a Green Hornet , Kato , Lone Ranger and Phantom....lol. But then I got wise and bought some Ultimate soldier figures that were 15 bucks less than cap and the costumes fit great.

Huge C/A collector for many years, but I always loved my Action Boy best, with the Robin and Aqualad outfits especially. I still vividly remember getting A/B for Christmas '68. I finally got a superb repo box for him a few years back.. Somehow I even picked up a 'black A/B beret' (as opposed to the standard blue one), which I believe was either from a Canadian release or a prototype. Either way, bought it for $15 in Wisconsin.

I've moved on to more Legends collecting, but will STILL pick up at least Spidey and Iron Man Deluxe sets..

Waiting on Green Goblin for Dr. Evil.

Simply the best, and thanks SO much to you, Mr. Jusko.

I always wanted Captain Action! I read the DC comic (remember comics when they were cool?).

I get a couple of everything, costumes included. More geek stuff for my studio. :-) Collection is not what it once was. Only so much room.

Speaking of 'Caves of Cool', your studio must be a pretty sweet space to be creative.

They upgraded Dr. Evil to boots, but incorporated the sandal motif as a design element. Works great, I think!

The sandals always seemed a goofy choice for super villain wear but I agree how great those new boots look. So glad they kept the big ass medallion and Neru jacket.
