Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle

I have highlighted this as my favorite toy of all time. I mentioned before that my father knew a great toy when he saw one and one Christmas I got everything - the figure with bike, the 'Stunt Stadium', the 'Scramble Van' and the 'Jet Bike'. We didn't have enough room in the house to really let the bike do the tricks it could so we packed up everything and took it to the base where a huge empty hanger became our staging area. We spent hours that Christmas setting up the coolest jumps and everyone who saw us had to participate in the activity, lending their two cents to our playtime. Fuck my Dad was awesome. The bike itself was practically indestructable and I am sure that Evel's suit was fireproff because we tested its ability to resist flame with a massive ring of fire. Its times like this (when I know my reissue of the toy is sitting downstairs in the Cave of Cool) that I regret not having children of my own. Seeing these terrific images at 'Yesterville Toy Room' I had to post them here for me to enjoy. After all it is the 'Cave of Cool' and these are definately cool. Check out this great article about THE greatest toy of all time.

I actually had this when I was a kid. My grandmother gave it to me, though I can't remember the circumstances -- probably a birthday or something. It was a pretty cool toy. I had it perform a lot of stunts involving ramps, staircases, and action figures, and my little brother. Good times. Thanks for reminding me of it.

I got all the toys one Christmas...Stunt Stadium, Scramble Van...several outfits. Immense play value. I last toy my father bought me was the reissue by Playing Mantis.

it was one of the best. good call. it was also one of those toys that used to get me in trouble a lot. the only wooden floor was the long hallway between all the bed rooms. it was like an echo chamber and would drive my mom nuts.

i also had a bootleg Dracula stunt bike rider too. not as sturdy but the thing hauled. my dad got it when he was in Mexico. both kicked mucho ass.

I loved my Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle! It's one of the earliest toys I remember getting for Christmas. I have a vivid memory of my mom thinking I was too young for it, but I guess she got over it because I played with this on the kitchen floor for hours on end.

My older brother showed me how to make ramps and have the bike jump over cars and whatnot. Great friggin toy!

Years later, I would get a similar set (cycle, launch ramp, figure) based on CHiPs for my birthday.

I've been tempted to pick up the reissue, maybe I just need to go do a little shopping right now!
